Question related to HTTP Proxy and Caching servers

There was a post by the support back in 2000 related to a problem with TrueUpdate and updating through caching servers. I am curious if I can get more details frm others experiences with this. Has anyone come up with workarounds for this? Have any data related to which Proxy servers are the most difficult to work around, etc.
