MP3 Plugin Support

I have project where which I need to me able to play MP3 files.
I know I could try to build it with 4, but I would like to build it with 5.

Again, why was MP3 not supported in 5?

And could a plugin be built to support MP3, not my area of knewledge, but willing to try.

The simple reason is because of the MP3 patent. While it is open to interpretation, anyone who uses MP3 may be liable for royalty payments. There is quite a bit of debate about it, but we felt it best to protect our customers and provide a superior alternative in the OGG format.

Technically, there is no reason why someone couldn't write an MP3 plugin for AutoPlay Media Studio 5.0, but that certainly wouldn't make the other issues disappear!

Look into the WINMM.DLL

and the MCISENDSTRINGA functions

mciSendStringA "OPEN C:\test.mp3", "",0,0
mciSendStringA "PLAY C:\test.mp3", "",0,0

Hi. Good news! It does. It's the same as Windows Media Player and it will support anything WMP does.

MP3 vs OGG

I wouldn't mind switching to OGG if I could be assured that most CD Burning software would recognize it and copy CDA files to disc. This is one of the features we claim our product will allow our customers to do. Is this currently possible with OGG with limited inconvenience to the end-user? Also, is OGG supported by Windows Media Player and other major players?
