AMS50 Code Viewer

I made a little utility program that can be used to open your .am5 project files and list all script in the project in a text window. It can be useful for finding code in large projects or if you want to keep an archive of all the script in a project.

Just thought it might help someone out there at some point...

Cool. I tried typing a file path in the file field but I forgot to type the file, I just typed the path, i.e. :

C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\AutoPlay Media Studio 5.0 Projects\MyFolder

Then I pressed Enter. The app shut down. Trying to restart it produced a "Failed to load XML" error but it restarted OK after closing the error dialog. Reproduces each time.

Cool tool though, once I did get it pointed at a file. It's a great solution to the "Movie Explorer" style script lister Yossi was in need of. Great stuff!

I would like to suggest 2 things:
1. Would it be possible (Brett) to add a feature which allows to choose the text editor? Notepad has NO color coding or ident etc.....
2. Suggestion: to integrated this feature into AMS (6 ?).

I know I am greedy

Just the other day I was thinking how handy an object/script listing tool would be ... and lo, it came to be!! :

One thing though, although it shows the 'Global' script pages, I'm not seeing the 'On startup' and 'On shutdown' project level scripts ...

Forget it ? No way!
I am not moving in AMS without this tool. You have NO idea, Brett, how useful this is to me (and I am sure I am not the only one).
As a bumping thread...Thanks again, Bret.

Thanks, great to know people still use it. I had forgotten about it myself until today...

It would actually be quite easy to make a cooler one using AMS50 and the XML plugin. The AMS50 project files are just XML and parsing them for their script would be quite easy... just a weekend project fro some of you AMS junkies...

What should I do without AMS50 Code Viewer? Just one example: Lua scripts are case sensitive and my memory fails me sometimes. Was the variable name gcVerInfo or gcverinfo? Without leaving the On Click window I can use the code viewer (much better then having two running instances of the project).

If some AMS junkie is going to create ver 2 I have two wishes:
1) Include the actions On Startup/On shutdown
2) Do some housekeeping when you exit the viewer (delete all the scr*.txt and scr*.tmp files in the Temp dir)

PS: My wife tells me that I’m a messy person. I confess! But not when I come to my computers: I regularly clean up the temp dirs, run defregmentation (automatically) and clean up the Registry. Btw; an app creating a Registry entry should be responsible to remove the entry when it has no use anymore. OK, it’s possible that I’m perversely accurate with respect to my computers. But I want them to stay healthy.

Has any “weekend builder” volunteered?

Like Yosik said: This useful tool should be integrated into AMS.
