Re: Overwrite old Files
The point of Visual Patch is to package up the things that have changed, rather than to simply overwrite older files. If all you want to do is overwrite old files, and you know what files those are, Setup Factory 6.0 could do that for you.
Visual Patch really starts to save you time by making secure full-history patches. By logging all of the files that you installed in each release of your software (ie Major v1.0, v1.01, v1.02 etc), Visual Patch can create a patch file to bring your v1.0 customers up to the v1.02 version, without you having to manually track what is different between versions. Sometimes that means overwriting older files, and sometimes not. Setup Factory 6.0 works really well with Visual Patch, as each solves a seperate, yet related problem. Make sure you're using each product to solve the problem it was designed for and you'll get excellent results. |
