I have three suggestions:

Allow the serial number to be based on a function of another variable. i.e. You ask the user to input telephone number, or customer number - and serial number is based on that number. That way each user could have a unique serial number while still being able to mass burn the CDs.

Allow developer to limit what packages are available to the user depending on the serial number used.

SUF may already do this one - I'm having problems getting SUF to READ a binary registry entry.
