Uninstall DOESN'T remove folders
The SetupFactory file doesn't remove the folders when the uninstall finishes. I am not using the default location, and I know that I cannot use %AppDir% and wildcards and I have specified a path.
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. goingMad |

Re: Uninstall DOESN'T remove folders
Please be more specific about your problem. We will need a lot more details including examples. You can email the details and your project file (.sf5) to support@indigorose.com.

Hey there, I figured out how to do it on Friday (May 19,2000). I would have sent you the files, but it is a company project, and I don't think my boss would let me send it. Anyway, the trouble it was having was with a Macromedia Director Xtra directory. It wouldn't remove it. Here is an example of the directory structure.
c:\first\second\Xtras\MShoppe Finally, I clicked on the 'Uninstall' icon, clicked 'File Operations', created 4 commands to get rid of the directories. Take care. Kevin Quote:

Re: Uninstall DOESN'T remove folders
What four commands did you create? I'm having a similar problem and I'm trying to figure it out. In my case I just want to delete the files that are left in the Start Menu. There is no direct path I just want to make sure that all files are deleted when they uninstall.
Thanks |

[B]The SetupFactory file doesn't remove the folders when the uninstall finishes. I've observed this too. The SF-created uninstall leaves folders behind that were created by the install and should therefore be removed. It may only be a problem when the install creates subfolders under the top-level %AppDir%. As goingMad later indicated, one can use the Uninstall area of SF to explicitly indicate the folders to be removed. However, it doesn't necessarily work if you can't tell it what file names in the subfolders to remove first. This isn't a big issue for me but it does make one's product look a little less professional if the user uninstalls it and stuff is left behind. Some or all competing setup products have this problem sometimes too. |
