Welcome!

Just want to welcome all of you SDK developers to the SDK forum! I am the Director of Software Development here at Indigo Rose and am the guy in charge of running the SDK program.

I was actually the guy here who designed and implemented the plugin architechture in the product so I know it inside-out. I say that to say this, don't hesitate to ask questions and post comments here. I will be glad to answer your questions or at least to try and point you in the right direction.

This is a hidden forum visible only to other SDK developers so we can really get down to technical brass tacks here. Looking forward to developing with you folks!

Re: Welcome!

Somehow I think writing a plugin is going to be a bit more involved than the peanut gallery type DLLs I wrote for 4.

I guess its time for me to roll up my sleeves and really try to learn C++ a bit better.

Re: Welcome!

Worm, don't get too worried about the complexity. Making Object plugins is quite a bit more complex than action plugins. Get into the IRClipboard action plugin project a bit. You will see that in the end there is not much to it. You should be able to convert your DLL projects to action plugins quite easily once you get the hang of it.

Take a run at it and then let me know where you get stuck. I can even look at your VC++ project if need be.

Re: Welcome!

You're right Worm. To create siginificantly useful high quality plug-ins for professional designers will require a good working knowledge of C++, definitely not something beginners will be able to do. That being said, it's well within your skill set to rise to the occassion for sure, you've got the right approach and more than enough potential. If you do create some worthwhile professional quality plug-ins you can count on us to market them in our cart and/or help you market them, so there's some incentive.
