AMS Runtime CD Burning now available!
I needed it, so I had it made specifically with resell rights (at the cost of an arm and a leg
1) List of source files 2) Target drive letter 3) CD label (CD Name) 4) The command to "go" It performs by showing an unbranded window telling the user their CD is burning and that it will eject when finished. It shows them a progress bar until it is finished, then it ejects the CD. Using the return function, you can then take back the control through your AMS application. Simple and effective. I have yet to try it out on multiple systems so it's still under product testing, but so far it works beautifully. It creates a log if needed and works on all versions of AMS. I'm giving out the demo executable so you can test it. The Demo was built in AMS 7 (of course!) and your purchase of the Burner for $150 includes the burner and the demo application's source file (APZ) so you can get up and running right away! Limitations: This will only create a single-session data CD. An Audio version is under way and anyone who purchases this version will get the Audio version at a significant discount when it becomes available (depending upon interest). The purchase excludes resell rights (obviously), but is open for your to use in your AMS application without limitation (commercial or otherwise) as long as it is only used as a secondary function of your application (do not just take my demo code and republish it as your product). Check it out for yourself at http://www.EverydayLogic.com/AMS Protocol

Interesting although I have no use for such at the moment. I think you are a bit high with the price though. Just my opinion.

Can this convert mp3 to wav? Website is not complete... not enough info. Does seem high for what is offered... I would bring the cost down to about $25 or $30... with no resell rights, but free to use it in as many projects as the customer would wish. |

As far as the conversion goes, no... this is just a straight up burning function, but it does it efficiently and legally (it doesn't use any other programs or kits to function which a lot of people in the development community said would be nearly impossible - especially outside of XP and Vista OS's).
As for the price tag, yeah it's certainly something you'd have to ask your lady about before hitting the "pay now" button. Sorry the site isn't more informative, but it pretty much just does what it says. It was developed with my project's needs in mind and I specifically had him leave out the branding so that it would be useful for the AMS crew. If you want an audio version (which I know a lot of people have been asking for for years), then I can pay to have the source code modified, but it will take some interested parties to split the cost and keep it low. The key here is not that it burns CDs. But that it burns CDs reliably across most Win platforms including older ones that didn't support the function. That it does so in a very small package (again, less than 300 kb) and with no branding. You really do just shoot it your variables and it performs the magic before handing control back over to your application. ![]() I'll try and get that demo posted so you can try it out...

This sounds very interesting.
Question... How many different drives have you tested this with? |

Okay, the demo is up!
As for testing it on various drives, it's worked on all the drives I've tested it on so far, but I'm always up for more tests. I slapped the demo together pretty quickly so there are some minor oversights I've noticed such as the naming of your CD. Obviously, it will have to be the standard Windows character set but I didn't filter that in the CD name input field. Thus, in my demo, if you name it something like ",,,,,,,///" it will likely shoot back a disc burn error while attempting to name the CD label as such. These are things you'll have to code for in your program before burn-time (adding a filter so that the user can't name their CD as such), but the demo shows off the ease-of-use of this app. It's up! Test it out... I know I've been having my fun with it. ![]() http://www.EverydayLogic.com/AMS Protocol

I tried the demo and it said the files were burned but the CD is unreadable. I just tried to burn some images.

The demo program was written so that after the burn process completes, it would take you to the "finished" screen (which wouldn't always be accurate), but ultimately, it would be best to program in a verification in your program to test the data (I just wrote the program to show what can be done). Can you tell me which OS, what type of CD and CD/DVD burner you're using? Is it a straight-up CD-R or a CD-RW, etc.? It's my goal to have this work across the board and it has on all the systems I've tested so far. I'm simply trying to recoup my cost on investment into the functionality. I appreciate your help locating any bugs and I'll take under account your involvement troubleshooting the application in AMS if you end up purchasing the finished product!
Thanks!

Dermot,
Do me a favor and download the demo again. I think it was an upload error.

"This addon just burn Files and dont burn Folders"
It's been well over 5 years since Indigo Rose offered up AutoPlay Media Studio. We finally have a CD burning function, albeit with limitations at the moment. This is a function that cost me a couple thousand dollars out of my pocket and a lot of time to produce. One step at a time... other functionality will become available if there's interest. At this point, no one's interested yet. As a head's up Pem, if you nay-say developers, they're not going to offer up solutions, rather keep them for themselves and bypass the effectiveness of our forums... and that goes for all of the developers out there who offer up their valueable time (Worm, Intrigued, Dermot and everyone else). Some of whom I have purchased from to add functionality to my applications. I know the users here at the IR forums are mostly cool guys & gals (word to my brothers...lol), but every once in a while someone new shows up that disrespects the other users or even IR itself. I would suggest a more positive attitude if you want to get results or better support from your fellow members. Just a suggestion... This is currently being shelled around the Actions Wizard. Again, if anyone's interested in variations of the function (such as the capability to burn folders, let me know and we can talk about it). Protocol

I may be interested in this sometime in Q1 of '08. One point that is very important, for my concerns anyway, is that this would work with most (prefer all of course) burners out there.

The cost it definitly too high. I might buy it for $25.

I'm sure you'd take it for free too. And that "might" doesn't sound too reassuring. lol I would bet that if I had it at $25, I would hear "I might buy it for $5", etc., etc. This isn't a garage sale. If you create an application using it, you're planning on making more than $25 from the job, right? If you can get a job based on your ability to directly record data to a CD, legally, without other third-party software and you can make $300 from that job, then you're gold. That's who this is for. This isn't a small feature. If it cost me $2,000 to create an alienware gaming system, why would I sell it for $25? Maybe if you presented a stack of people with $25 in hand, it'd be an interesting proposition. I estimated the amount of interested AMS users who would purchase the plugin at around 10 and so I set the price at $150. This would start to offset my development cost. I've been planning that anyone who buys this data burning version would get the audio version for free when it gets developed. And it would get developed as soon as someone purchased the data version. Sort of an "interest-catch 22". This was something already in the works, but it really depended on the amount of interest generated. I was thinking about having other aspects that we have all been asking for coded and wrapped around the AMS engine, but I'm going to be spending my own money on those and not my bills. The price is to comphensate the cost of development. Now I'm starting to grasp how Indigo Rose feels. lol
