BITS plug-in?

Sorry for double-posting but I've had no response from the Suggestions forum.

Because we have a large number of users who would all turn their PCs on at roughly the same time in the morning, we are concerned that there may be a bandwidth problem if all the PCs attempt to upgrade s/w simultaneously.

For this reason, we either need to be able to schedule updates or use something like BITS rather than FTP for the file transfer. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi CParker,

Right now there are not plans for BITS service however I have made a note of it in our suggestions database. (REF 17063)

As far as any suggestions go, how are you scheduling your updates now? It sounds like you are doing it every time your end user's computers start. You could switch to a different approach that checks for an update when the user launches your program instead, or check for an update every few days.
