Alternative when there is no WEB available?

Hi guys. First time using the forum. I have a CD that includes a Program, two documents and two web addresses. The program runs OK, the documents need Adobe reader, but that is another problem, BUT, what to do when the user clicks on the button to go see a web site and the user does not have an internet connection? Wouldn't it be nice to have the alternmative to show a document or at least a message instead of going into the Web wizard?

Mario,

The only way to do that in Autorun MAX would be to make an alternate page on your menu for "disconnected" viewing. You could put a link on the first page that says "Click here for offilne viewing". Then the links on the second page could open documents from the CD instead of from the Web.

Just so you know, you have finer control over this using AutoPlay Media Studio 6.0 where you could do this all from one button click. AMS60 allows you to detect the internet connection and then conditionally execute different commands based on teh connection state (all using scripting, of course).

Well, now that we are in the subject of updating....

Well, now that we are in the subject of updating.... I bought (2-3 months ago) AUtorun, and I just installed it two days ago because this is the time when I need to create my "marketing" CD. So, how much ($$) would it be to buy the "Studio" thingy? And how much would I get credit for from the Autorun if I decide to go in the "Studio" direction? Just wondering.

Thanks for the advice.

One more question

Would I be able to detect versions of Windows (E.g., 2000, XP)? So that I could install the appropriate version of Adobe Reader?

Mario,

We do have upgrade pricing available from Autorun MAX! to AutoPlay Media Studio. Please call us or email sales at indigorose.com for a quote.

In answer to your second question - yes, you can easily detect OS versions and run different executables based on the detected value.
