Special settings for http servers?
I think TrueUpdate is exactly what I need, so I downloaded the trial to check it out. When I add a LAN server it works fine, but when I set up an http server, it fails with error 3624: The requested URL was not found on the server. I can use IE to see the contents of the folder. Why can't TU find it? Are there settings in IIS that I need to set in order to make this work?

Are you running a local server? How are you connecting to it? What kind of URL?

Web server info...
I have a folder on our website that I use for miscellaneous downloads. In the TU project I added an http server with this location, namely "www.mycompany.com/updatefolder". I built the project, and copied the *.ts* files to this folder. When I run TrueUpdateClient.exe I get a 3624 error. When I run IE I can navigate to and view the contents of www.mycompany.com/updatefolder with no errors. The website is on a remote machine; it is not on my local workstation.
Am I missing a setting somewhere to allow the necessary access for TU? |

what happens if you put in the URL of say the ts1 file into IE?
For example type in the address: http://www.mycompany.com/updatefolder/myupdate.ts1 (substitute the correct names of course) If the file is in the right location then IE should prompt you with the usual download-save-as dialog. |

I found it: MIME settings
I could access other files in this folder with .txt and .exe and .zip extensions, but not the .ts* files.
I added ts1, ts2, and ts3 to the MIME types list for this folder and it works now. My web server is on MS Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. I guess "*.*" isn't a standard entry in the MIME types list. |
