Why is it that some JPEG's can be imported and others cannot in AMS?

There shouldnt be a problem with importing a jpeg. If there is, there may be something wrong with the jpeg file.

Possible, but I don't think so. I created the graphic in Photoshop and saved as a JPEG. Works everywhere else except in AMS.

I have tried to import Tiff files as well and AMS does not accept them.

I ran into this problem a while back also. And I found out that it matters if the TIF is saved as compressed or not.

If I remember correctly, I believe AMS does not like to import uncompressed TIFs. I suspect the same thing is happening with the JPEG. Try saving compressed and uncompressed in Photoshop, and see which one AMS likes. I'm pretty sure it will accept the compressed pics.

Ok, hold it. I may have it turned around. I did a search in the forums and found this old post by Mark on 03/07/01:

But one thing I do know for sure is that you can save TIFs in Photoshop as compressed or uncompressed.

The reason is simply that AutoPlay does not support images that use LZW (or is that LZH?) compression. (Basically, the compression used by LHA.)

I believe this compression algorithm needs to be licensed (at great cost), and it just isn't worth increasing the price of AutoPlay Media Studio to support images that were saved with this type of compression.

I think this might have something to do with the Compuserve patent, but for some reason I'm not sure. (Where's the gingko biloba when you need it...)

Thanks for the help guys! I am going to experiment a bit on this one. Seems to me however that this is a problem that should be addressed by the AMS gods.
