Flash MX 2004 ProgressBar Component

Has anyone had any success using the ProgressBarcomponent in Flash MX 2004? It looks great, would like to use it, but it just doesnt work.

Anyone know of any good functional tuts out there? I am trying to use it in conjunction with a loadMovie action in a slide presentation. Cannot get the darn thing to disappear when the movie (loaded using loadMovie) is loaded either. Even using the {on (complete) (this.setVisible (false);} action.

Ugh!

I know UltraShock has a good tut for the progress bar. Go to the site then click on "Latest Tutorials" then on "Flash MX 2004 UI Components. Hope this helps. Worst case you can just make a quick one yourself.

Also, here is an external .swf loader .fla I did a ways back.

Ugly, but you can change the look of course (thankfully so! )

This is the .fla in a .zip file. Now, you need to adjust the code on the _actions layer... line 4.

What I have done is setup a loader to show the download progress from a (my) server that holds the .swf movie to view.

Make sure you put the .swf movie in with the .swf loader (same directory), or, adjust the code as needed.

Sincerely,

*bah* with the ProgressBar...

Thanks for your suggestions. Have found an even better solution for what I am trying to do. It loads external swfs, built in preloader, volume and balance control... very cool. So much in fact that I want to share the link!

AXXESS, I broke down before movie-time here at my house and took one of the .swf's for a ride and I like the setup! The controls for the loader/player rock!

Nice catch! Thanks again for sharing!
