View Full Version : ShowBehind Adware

Has anyone experienced a problem where Setup Factory setups are identified as having been infected by an adware threat know as "ShowBehind"? Symantec AntiVirus, version 9, has started to identify nearly all of my setups created with Setup Factory 6.0 as being infected with this adware. I do not believe the files are actually infected - no users have complained of being affected by pop-up advertisements, as this adware is supposed to do. But is there some code element in common that is causing Symantec to identify these files as infected? This could grow to be a large concern as the corporate gurus get delete happy with anything that is supposedly inflected...

Thanks!

Well, there is definitely no adware in there. I can assure you of that. From time to time our runtime engine gets tagged like this. It is always resolved by users like you contacting the anti-virus maker and telling them about the problem. Usually they are pretty quick to resolve the issue in a definitions update.

Hit Brett,

After I made my post, I saw the "Norton Antivirus: ?SF apps are Adware Threats?" thread in this forum. As of August 11th, Adam (of Indigo Rose) was attempting to contact Symantec about this problem. Unfortunately, neither he nor any users have had any success. (I doubt that I could have better results...) You are not aware of any resolution to this dilemma?

Thanks!

No. It is a 100% Norton Antivirus issue. There is nothing that we can do about it. However, perhaps as a customer they will listen a bit closer. Do they have a facility within the product for reporting false positives?
