Hi there,

I am not sure whether this is a bug in SF, or not, but it somehow looks like:

Create a setup
Use WinRAR to create a selfextracting compressed archive with just the setup included
Ensure that the selfextracting options are set to launch the compressed setupfile when selfextraction is executed
PROBLEM: the setup is extracted by the selfextractor, but not launched properly. It just flickers, and disappears.

It looks like SF does not allow that a setup is launched by the selfextractor ... I wonder why. Compressing a setup with WinRAR saves about 5% of the file site, which is quite a lot if you have a large setup file of about 10 MB or more ...

I have not tested this with the beta version of SF7 - but I think the problem might be the same with setups generated with that new version.

Thanks for checking this.

Steve

It must be a problem with winrar or how you are using it. If your setup.exe works before using winrar on it, but not after, I'm not sure what we can do about that. Perhaps there is an option in winrar that is not being set correctly?

The setup is started, but just flashes up for a millisecond. So, most likely the cause is not WinRAR as it properly decompresses and starts the setup. But it does not continue executing - in immediately terminates without any error message.
