View Full Version : Too Cool!
I just noticed that we can look and see what we've uploaded to the forum via our Control Panel. I think that is so cool! I'm taking up 3.25 MB of your space with my uploads.
This new rev of the forum has some really cool features. It's uncovering all of them that is the tricky part!

I totally agree, this forum is really the bee's knees, the cat's meow, the elephant's instep. :lol

I have to agree. There's tons of cool new features in this upgrade. Spending the afteroon getting it installed might actually have been worth it!
Ouch. The installation script takes your through about 8 beta versions and 3-4 "release candidates" before you're done. They could definitely work on that aspect, but they did get some great new features in there!
Wow, all my uploads, and links to the threads, in one convenient spot. That is way cool.
Worm, over 3 megs! That’s impressive. That’s a whole lot of little files. Even with redistributing a few of your DLL’s like I have been known to do, I’m still at barely 800k with 40 attachments.
Worm is cranking out some serious quantity as well as quality.

Indeed Jim, Worm has evolved into a real speed demon. 3 MB is indeed a lot of stuff considering all Worm's stuff is tiny, directly to the point, and essentially fat-free.

all Worm's stuff is ... essentially fat-free.
And low in carbs too! His uploads are not only tasty, they are also good for you.

I saw that the other day too. The attachment management feature is very cool with this new forum. I especially like that I can go back and edit my post to add the attachment I said I was going to add within in the post I said I had added it to, rather than a subsequent post.
My post must be a little more fattening. 5.89 MB with 40 attachments.

*A Theory* by Anne Elk
Tigg's posts are higher in fibre, thereby accounting for the extra 2.89 MB.
This has been a theory, which is mine, and, that is to say, no one else's. A theory, that is to say, which, being speculative, attempts to conjecture on the topic at hand, that of course being the subject of the theory, and, therefore to offer some conclusion in that regard.

Do you practice writing speeches for current US presidents.
I think he does, but he can actually understand them :o
kidding of course.

Given the current level of demand for long haired, loud guitar playing, skateboarding, multimedia maniacs on the campaign circuit I've been advised by several top people, "Not to quit my day job." That of course being as, Gotham City's number two crimefighter, "The Mashed Avenger." (And my loyal minion, "Sous Chef" ) We haul in about 12% or so of the criminals Batman does number wise, it's not much, but at least it qualifies us for federal funding.
That being said, it was all simply a knee-slapping, if not arcane, reference to the Monthy Python skit "Anne Elke : An Theory on Brontosaurus' ".

Can you add (may have been mentioned before) the following or let me know if any of these are available currently:
* The ability to 'spell check' posts prior to posting
* The ability to create, customize personal avatars
* Knowledge base that searches across all I.R. web sites
Thank you in advance if any of these options (or all) can/will be implemented.

1. We'd have to wait for vBulletin to add a spell-check feature. Seeing how it took them like 2 years between v2 and v3 don't hold your breath :wow
2. You can upload your own avatar from the "User CP" at the top of the page.
3. Our knowledge base is now centralized and searchable at http://support.indigorose.com.
Hope that helps!

Thank you Ted for the quick replies!
You can upload your own avatar from the "User CP" at the top of the page.
I only see that a user can change their avatar. I do not see a place to upload a custom created one (say that I made).
Am I over looking this option?
Thank you in advance.

Seems to me it's in there somewhere, I'm pretty sure you can upload it, not just link it. I might be wrong though...

From what I can figure it seems this function is not yet enabled by the site administrator (or one that is a part of that group).
Incidentally if anyone wants to see the whole pre-built avatars in one shot can do so via using this link:
Complete List of Pre-Built Avatars (http://www.indigorose.com/forums/misc.php?do=showavatars)

It should be down at the bottom of the page:

Ted, I see the two buttons named Save Changes and Reset Fields;however, I do not see an Upload Avatar button or a button named that relates to the action of uploading an image. Or am I looking for a hyperlink?
Can you narrow down the area I am to look at and explain the mechanism that is used to upload the image? (e.g. button or a hyperlink) Any land marks you can supply would be appreciated.
Again, thank you for your help (and Corey's too).

I looked through a few comments about custom avatars on vBulletin's web site.
Found this link:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96543&highlight=upload+avatar
Then this remark:
Its done now by usergroup promotion and secondary usergroups or new primarys.
Add a new usergroup that can have custom avatars, set your public to no avatars,
Set a promotion up to be based on posts, when they have enuf posts they get moved into the new usergroup that has Access to custom avatars.

Hey Tig,
3.25 MB, but 51 attachments.
Mine ARE less filling (and subsequently less interesting, but hey!)
My post must be a little more fattening. 5.89 MB with 40 attachments.

and subsequently less interesting
I would beg to differ greatly. I add unnecessary bulk to mine because I use a brute force method to get things done. That's what happens when one does not come from a programming background. ;) Slap stuff together get it to work if there is redundant code that is ok.

Just to update everyone, I fixed the "custom avatar" uploads today (I hope). Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Ah yes, the ooooooold "Less filling - Subsequently less interesting" debate again. Sounds like a beer ad featuring Dr. Phil and William Buckley.
