View Full Version : Any other Aquarium junkies
I was playing around with my brothers digital camera and I took some pictures of my fish tank.
(see attached)
Do we have any other tank nerds? If so put up a picture.

Nice tank, Adam.
My father had his own tropical fish business from about 1975 'til about 1992 ... when he shut up shop, having made his money.
The business' main concern was supplying pet shops and garden center's throughout the UK.
Fish were imported from Africa, South America, USA, Europe (and maybe others .. can't remember) and exported too.
I worked in the business for a while but left to do other things. There were certainly some weird and wonderful fish i got to see during the time.
He started by stocking East African Cichlids (Lakes Tanganyika and Malawi mostly) in the 70's / 80's which was prob about 90% of the stock, but this changed when the 'novelty' wore off, by the general public. They seemed to broaden their interest to West Africa - a different type of fish and not as interesting, in my opinion.
There was a time when we had to move out the house to accomodate the tanks in there!! (well almost)
Unfortunately, i dont have any pictures since it was a while ago now. I dare say i could dig up some on the web and post some links to the type of stuff he had if anyone's interested - tho if yur into this type of thing, your prob aware of them anyway.
Not sure if i had a fav fish of all those that i saw. What about you Adam ... you got a fav?

I have an aquarium screen save and we have a beta fish downstairs on the counter. Does that count at all?
betas count, we actually have one in the office here that is in a bowl that has a live plant on the top, the beta lives in the roots.
as far as favorites I have an angelfish tank going now so I guess that is my favorite.
Speaking of african ciclids take a look at the pic on this post.

Tig, Yes. Yes it does count, and quite deeply in fact too. :o
I like the way that fish backs up into his little garage there and then keeps his eyes peeled out the front, that's what I'd do too.
He sure is a beautiful color. I love that color.
