having a real nightmare here now folks, as i said a whileback only just reall y getting to grips with AMS at the mo and was looking into dependancies for start-up of my presentation I want to check that the user has Flash Player and Shockwave installed at runtime and the version installed...
Just wandering if there is a way for me to be able to upgrade the users Flash version if below 6 for instance...?
Been trying to get me head round this one but aint having to much luck so far...the installer is in my Docs folder on the CD Root how would I firstly check then give them a chance to install ??????
my eye's are sore my head is pounding and the cat things I've lost my marbles :wow
any help folks would bring me back from the brink...
thanks always
zym
When you are setting the dependencies. Look in the bottom box (Properties) of the Application you want to detect. You will see a property named "Variable" use that variable to tell the version installed.
For instance:
Dialog.Message("Flash Version", "Your version of Flash is: " .. _FlashVer
Would display the version of Flash you have, if you selected Flash as a dependency.

Worm ur a star mate
Thx for the pointer on that one will have to look into this a little more me thinks...
Has anyone any good resources online to look up scripting and a good point to read up on variables etc...
as I've no doubt said before new to all this and really would like to get my head round some of what folks are saying to each other on here as most of the time looks like ancient latin to me...
"Caecilius est in tablino..."

The HELP file in AMS is incredible, as well as the Scripting Guide. Once you've wrapped your head around that, you might check out www.lua.org (http://www.lua.org) and read up on LUA some too.

thx again worm for getting back so quickly...
I have to admit I had a feeling that I had only scratched the surface of the HELP files within AMS also noticed that there's quite a few good resources on the IR website aswell so I'm gonna be getting my my caffeine fix and swotting away to my hearts content for a while by the looks of things...
and thx for the pointer to LUA will be paying that a visit real soon to see what goodies they have for me to feast upon.
without a hint of joking here I admit that this is by far one of the best, in fact THE best forum around for suggestions help and good natured helpfulness...I only hope that I can put back as much as I have taken so far and sooner rather than later...
all the best for now folks
