serial port device interfacing

hi guys,

what would be the best way, if any, to use AMS5 to send commands to the serial port, similar to hyperterminal. So it can connect to a device, send info and return parameters/variables. Can this be done?

I don't see why it couldn't be done. You'll need a way to actually send the commands to the serial port. You could write your own DLL to do it, or you could look for a third-party DLL or command-line utility (there might be something out there that can pass arbitrary data to the serial port). I'll leave that for you to research on your own (Google should prove useful for this kind of thing).
