    scrollbar optimise?

is there a way to optimise the colours of scroll bars or even skin them in the text paragraph feature?
It would be cool if we could.. it would suit a certain colour scheme i would want.

Yep, you can easily create your own custom scrollbars in Photoshop or any other image editor... The easiest way to get started doing this is to go into your folder:

    \Program Files\AutoPlay Media Studio 5.0 Professional\Plugins\Scrollbars\

Take one of the existing scrollbars images from that folder and create a backup copy, then edit the original and save it, you will see your changes show up when you use that scrollbar in AMS. Once you get used to it simply start creating your own by saving them to this folder as PNG24 images with the filename prefix of:

    sb_

    Hope that helps.

If you want more in-depth information about creating scrollbars, buttons, plugins, etc., Go and sign up for the free AMS50 SDK.

            Corey/Brett,
Is there a middle way between going to the SDK (which is a bit daunting..) and the PNGs you mentionned Corey. What I would need is sort of a table (like mapping) which states something like the following:
            UP Arrow_UP.........0,0,40,40
            UP Arrow_DOWN.....40,0,80,40

            Etc.... You get my meaning.
I know I can start and measure the existing files, but one pixel this way or that way does make a visual difference and if you guys have the data available....
            Thanks in advance.

Hi Yossi. I don't have a recipe per se on hand but I can tell you at least that those are divided up into 16 X 16 squares with each being one different component of the scrollbar. I think there's a recipe in the SDK somewhere so it's worth grabbing for that if that's what you need.

Best is to play around with one for a half hour if you have the time. Start with sb_WindowsOS.png for quickest results since you are already familiar with it... Hope that helps...

                ok Corey,
I thought it was something handy, that's why I asked.
I will look into the SDK..(where??)

The SDK does have a lot of high-level C++ programming stuff, but it also includes a lot of low-level graphics stuff like how to make buttons, scrollbar skins and video transport skins. Please don't feel like you need to be a hard core programmer to use the SDK, it is great for the more graphics-minded people out there as well.

And to answer your question, yosik, yes, the entire mapping of the scrollbar skins image is in the SDK.

Maybe if I get a sec one of these weeks I'll put together a graphics developer resource package which omits the programming aspect of the SDK and just gives you the skinny on the design nomenclature.

Glad to see this come out. Thank you for asking about this.

This is why I did not get into messing with the 'bars'... pixel off and it looks(ed) unprofessional for sure!

I clicked on the link above and it will not let me access such services. Do I need to signin/up first?
