Before I forget, I wanted to tell all of our customers about a really good deal that I found. It is a new Web hosting company that is GIVING away decent Web space for 3 years - no strings attached! These accounts are really decent and support PHP and MySQL! These accounts are perfect for interacting with AutoPlay Media Studio applications. But I think that the free for 3 years deal ends on the 21st so HURRY! You are allowed one account per phone number (it does an automatic phone verification thing).

Anyhow, here is the link:

Thanks Brett, good call. My Momma always told me to be weary of offers that seem to good to be true, so I probably would have missed out on this if it hadn’t been recommended by someone I trust.

So far, I’m pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. Thanks for passing this good news our way.

By the way, if anyone else is still sitting on the fence contemplating this, it’s worth noting that I was able to completely set up my account, and they didn’t even ask me for a credit card number. That fact alone went a long way towards eliminating my fears.

They can then call you? Here in the U.S. there is a new Do Not Call list... Federal program.

Something to the gist of.. if you do business with a, well business they can interact with you for something like 18 months after.

That is sketchy info. But, I am trying to hurry up and signup before the offer ends (TODAY!) (grin, heck chuckle)

ps. Thank you Brett. Nice "eagle eye" on this one. I currently get free service, but I am going to tuck this account away or use as a backup for my company.

I actually joined a few months ago and found it to be legit. The only phone call you get is an automated one - I think it merely makes sure YOU are legit, instead of ye ol' fake email address. And the call comes quick too and just gives you a secure code. I think they have a shrewd marketing scheme going and it seems to be working so far.

Yes, the telephone call came within five minutes.

I have not used the account yet; however, I did get to check out the Admin GUI and it seems very professionally done.

well, I missed the free offer...but, I signed up last night...like the control panel and web mail interface....but....

1) In the email control panel there is a typo - adresses
2) When signing up for an account the sign-up FORCED me to choose a faulty street address...very peculiar. Sent 3 emails per their website with the screen captures but the mails bounced. Then I sent another text only email and have yet to hear from them.

So, superficiously, I guess things will work out but not impressed with the backend support.

I've set up the account and everything but I'm not sure what ftp site I should be uploading to and can't find the info through the control panel. Has anyone got any clues?

By the way, thanks for pointing this place out. Seems like a great deal.

the send and receive of email from the domain is SLOW SLOW SLOW

My 4 star assessment is quickly heading down, down, down...

You get what you pay for - cheap-as-dirt web hosting plans abound. Reselling the service itself is not expensive. Support is expensive. Don't expect good support if you didn't pay a reasonable price for your hosting services.

Imagine the resources IR has tied up in support, and you'll realize that their support costs them real money. It's one reason why I am so impressed with good support. It's what builds great companies nowadays... And I am only doing business with those businesses that "get it" anymore. Frankly I'm surprised anyone buys into the deal that free is going to net them anything but problems down the road. Heck of a business plan, that.

Ask yourself this: "would I trust one of MY client's web sites to be hosted on a free account?"

I wouldn't.

Eric's right. :) On the other hand free accounts are great for non-critical applications like testing, file sharing, and so forth, as long as you are OK with the setup.
