I have a client/colleague that has been using it for a number of months with great success.

Scenario: They wanted to test the e-commerce waters a bit by offering a handful of their instructional videos via their existing web site. They didn't want to invest boat loads of time or budget just to get their feet wet, so a full blown integrated cart solution didn't immediately fit the bill.

They had some initial reservations about Pay Pal, in terms of flexibility and first-time customer perception, but it has worked out really well for them. It has also been incredibly simple to manage, so they've stayed focused on their core business instead of wrestling with "e-commerce issues".

Initially, I was a bit skeptical. I've personally been using the Miva cart solution with a seperate merchant gateway account, and have been a big fan of the third party resources and plug-in solutions that are out their and supported by a strong Miva development community.

However, I'm actually taking a closer look at it myself for various future scenarios. I've just begun to investigate the "Pay Pal IPN", which is along the lines of an API.

A great place to find more info and resources is at:

...which is a link to the PayPal Developer Network area on their site.

...hope that helps.
