View Full Version : Mixed Mode CDs
I have been experimenting with Mixed Mode CDs and I am wondering if there is a way to hide track 1 (DATA) from a stand alone CD player. On the discman that I am testing on it playes the data track giving some very evil sounding results.
Is this just the way it goes? Or is there a way hide this track?

I don't know. When ever I make a mixed mode CD I usually have the audio tracks first and the data tracks second. I believe these are called Enhanced CDs where the music track if first and the data second. Mixed-mode CDs have a data track followed by music tracks. These are not supported by audio CD players. That was my take on it anyway.
Yup, burnt it as enhanced CD and it worked from a stand alone player and from PC.
Thanks for the tip

It even worked in the Sunbird! ;)
That is a Sunbird that has been sitting in a parking lot at -20oC for 8 hours.
that crazy bird, gotta love her, she's the last of a dying breed

Things last for a long time when they are cryogenically frozen. Considering that the bird is frozen for half of a year, it should last twice as long as normal.
Even if that is true a 10 year old sunbird is probably already 2X past it's life expectancy. kidding of course I love my bird, the way that the heat doesn't work when it is idle, The sharp thing that snags your legs when you try to get out of shotgun, The way that I have to go to 4th gear if there is any slight incline on the highway, the rust and the dented hood, there is no trunk release, the rear defog doesn't work, The horn doesn't work, I have to tape my shifter plate in place, Neither seat moves, The door panel is falling off, no glove box light, The broken stereo, The heat is always on defrost and there is a hole in the floor so your feet get cold,
either than that she is in great shape ;)
oh man what a car!! but hey enhanced CDs play fine so I guess that is all that matters.

Sounds like you're hard done by, Adam. Perhaps you should ask IR for a raise, since they are [obviously] not paying you enough for your talent! :)
Of course, you could always ask Brett [your dear, loving, rich brother] for a loan!! Or hey, just ask him to get it all repaired for Christmas for you ;)

Don't feel too sorry for him Derek - he's a free-wheelin' University student - the world is his oyster!

Yeah, c'mon Brett, give it up moneybags. Har. But seriously, I too own a similar vehicle. My beloved '87 Firenza. I bought it for $500 almost a year ago, put in a starter for $50, and it has run perfectly ever since. Never a single rumble nor moan. Cheap on gas, doesn't burn oil, and the heater's great. I must have put a zillion of your "earthling miles" on it this summer skootching the skateparks of cowville...
Old cars and new CDs, here's to them... I'm going to write a country song entitled that and bring a tear to your eye one of these dang old days.
