I am putting one of my AMS projects on a VCD to enable me to play the video section of my project on DVD players. I have had good success with this so far but I have one question that I hope you can answer.

My first attempts involved having the mpeg files in the video folder of my project and then having them on the disc again in the Avseq##.dat form.

However, this method means that you can only have half the amount of video on a disc and I also want to set the priority for the video files as highest when burning in Nero.

The method that I have now used involves loading the Avseq##.dat files into the video objects in my project. This allows me to have more video on the disc and to give these files the highest priority in Nero.

I have tested the application on a Win98 and a WinXP system and it has worked fine.

MY QUESTION: - Is it ok to load Avseq##.dat files into the video object or will this cause problems, bearing in mind I have only tested on 2 systems?

I am not much of a video person but I would think that if you had a codec loaded on the system then it should be able to play it.

The Avseq##.dat file is basically an mpeg file that has been renamed and had some header information added. You can actually rename the file to .mpeg and it will play fine. However, I think I will need to stick with 2 versions of the video file to be on the safe side.

I'm not sure if any of you guys use the vcd method but I am finding it to be a great way to increase the number of people that will be able to play back my disc. Many people, including Mac owners, have DVD players so if a large portion of your application is video this is ideal.

I haven't tested it yet but it may be possible to play the VCD file on a Mac if they have a VCD software player.

Interesting... I know nothing of VCDs but that sounds pretty cool... :)
