Well, I did a project about 3 weeks ago using AMS4. It was just a table of contents all opening powerpoint PPS files - nothing special and very simple.

Tested the CD on my machine - all worked - and replicated the CD x 500 for sending out to customers.

Someone just inserted the CD into their computer and the message as such comes up:

Title bar: "Error"
Message: "Please run this program from the administrator account so it can set up you license. Once the license is setup you can run it from any account"

There might have been more and i didn't write it all down but that's the most of it

NOOOOOOOO!!!!! - aaaarrrgggghhhhhh - do users need admin rights to run the autoplay??? Most users probably won't have admin rights

i'm not doing any flash or anything special - literally just have the following actions

file.open
TimedMessage
System.GetInformation

Thanks for any help!

I think that message comes from the security wrapper around the runtime module. We will have to change the settings of it and release an update to the product in the next couple of weeks.

In the mean time, if the user logs in as an administrator and runs it just once it will not be necessary again on subsequent runs. Or they can have their administrator do a Run As... on the file.

We will fix this. I will look into it in the morning.

Brett,

Well, at least you know about the problem for a fix.

My problem is this....

1. I obviously didn't expect there to be a problem regarding user rights when running a very simple table of contents. Hence the replication of 500 CD's in cases and costing me sum of money.

2. The end-users are users in the midst of large companies - need to contact IT departments to come down and log into the PC as administrator. This might not be as easy as it is said.

3. My customer wants something that looks professional - I can't just say, well, tell your customers that will be inserting the CD to get admin rights first and then view the CD - not as professional as i'd have liked - especially when like I said, it's just a front end for their Powerpoint presentations.

4. My customer that wanted these CD's now doesn't think much of what I have created.

This has now cost ME money in how i'm going to fix this......

I just did a test in AMS5 and the same thing occurs in there. It may be worth mentioning this in the AMS5 forum for people to know.

I am curious - has no-one come across this problem yet, or did it start in 4.0.0.5 (that's what my autoplay was created in)?

Imagine this - the product promotes producing a Resume using Autoplay. So, a Resume is produced and sent to a prospective employer or agency who would more than likely not have admin rights on their work PC - put the CD in and, well, no info on the prospective employee.

I just think this to be a HUGE problem. In my case it has and will be costing me money in probably reproducing the CD's, and only when the fix for it comes out.

I understand this is more than likely not IndigoRose's fault and some other third party product - I'm just frstrated at the problems this has caused me and i'm sure you can understand how disappointed I am feeling - especially loosing face with a customer, and costing me money at the same time.

Anyway - thanks for looking into this.

OK, we have built and released AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 (version 4.0.0.6) this morning. Please check for updates within the product and it will update you automatically. This fixes the administrator issue.

Brett,

Thanks for the update - downloading now.

Is there anyway that a file or something can be either sent out on disk or downloaded from the the net that a user with restricted rights can download/install and not have this problem occur?

The only thing to do would be to build another runtime with 4.0.0.6 and send them the autorun.exe file. I think that if you run the new version on a system once, the old version (4.0.0.5) will run fine after that.

Thanks for the suggestion - gave it a try but no, didn't work.

Running the autorun file compiled under 4.0.0.6 now works but when trying the 4.0.0.5 CD, still doesn't work.

Also tried a 5.0.0.1 compiled little app to see if it would install whatever license it is looking for, but no luck.

I am begging here - please - any other suggestions?
