View Full Version : Application pause at startup/runtime

Just an observation: One of the apps/interfaces we've built has numerous buttons on the first installation menu - I'm not sure whether this is related or not?
For some reason, in runtime/startup, there's a several second pause before the interface is movable or active.
This can be somewhat frustrating.
This doesn't happen on another completely different app/interface we've built, (using the current release 5.5.1).
This wasn't a problem yesterday using 5.5.0, but seems to so today using 5.5.1
Is there anything that I should be looking for to speed up this interface.
The slow response time also happens in design time when moving from one page to another.
FYI I've attached a screen capture of the offending app.
Thanks.

Wow, that C put on a little weight since we last met. :)

Yes, I think the design of the C has undergone about seven revisions recently.

Hee. :) FWIW John, the guys will be in first thing in the morning and you can bet they'll take a real close look at this issue...

Thanks Corey.
Perhaps of some help to the IR team: I've just opened up the project on my laptop which still has version 5.5.0 and everything works fine.
Cheers - and thanks again,
John

This may be relevant to this issue.
In updating the main menu background image file, I created a file called _c7.png and a mask called _c7mask.png
I think the issue here was caused using the underscore _ for the beginning of a filename caused APMS5 to pause?
Having now updated/replaced the images with simply c7.png (omitting the underscore), the APMS5.5.1 app/interface seems to run fine.
So, the question is: is the use of the _underscore reserved only for Global Variables?

John

John,
That is truly bizzarre. Is there any way that you could export the project to an .apz file and email it to me. Maybe send me both the slow and non-slow versions. My email address is brett@indigorose.com. EVen if you can make a smaller project that replicates the same behavior that would be helpful.

Are you using page transitions on those pages at runtime?

No page transitions.
And yes, I will build/send you an app just to replicate the above behaviour.
Thanks
John
