When I am building my project (VB 6 application), I am using the VB6 and CR 8.5 runtime modules. It will give me an error everytime I use the CR 8.5 modules. (I have used both of them together and separately with the same results!) I have followed the Readme to the letter as far as modifying them and placing them in my project in the Design Time constants, and I have yet to be able to get it to build, just causing an error. It tells me to look at the files in red for the problem, but there are none that are red. What could be the problem? I have even uninstalled an reinstalled CR 8.5, so any help would be great! Thanks!

Re: CR 8.5 Runtime Modules causing Build errors
Is there anyone in here that can help? Any moderators that can help me with this problem, or even a workaround. I was wondering, if I compiled the setup factory project that is the CR 8.5 runtime module... and placed that CR 8.5 setup in my setup file, and ran that CR 8.5 setup after the initial install as a secondary install, would this work as well? I can get the Runtime project to work by itself, and I can get mt setup to compile by itself, but not just by checking the Runtime files under runtime Modules in the menu. Is there anyone that can help me, or has had problems with this as well? I really need a little insight, as my time frame grows smaller. Thanks in Advance.

Re: CR 8.5 Runtime Modules causing Build errors
I first want to make sure you are using the latest build of the product which is 6.0.1.2. You can find that information under Help->About Setup Factory.
The runtime support module will be merged with your working project file at build time. Do either of the project files list any files in red? What does the error message say? Does it give a particular file name? What if you go to View->Refresh in each of the project files. Do you see any files in red at that point? Check the build log, as there may be some further information as to what exactly is failing, but do make sure you are using the latest build of Setup Factory.

One or more of the Archive files could not be found. The missing files
are colored red, if no files are colored red, select "View | Refresh" to update the
display. To resolve this problem either remove the file(s) from the project or
set their source directories correctly.
Build failed with one or more errors.
Though there are no other files in red.
I reinstalled Crystal Reports 8.5 completely with all features installed and I am still having this problem. I have located these files and they are in the directory that Setup Factory says it cannot find them in. So what could be the problem? I really appreciate your assistance, and I hope you can help me suqare this away. I am about 2 weeks away from a deadline. Thanks!
EDIT:
OK I rekeyed in my Design Constants and now I am missing only these Files. Problem is, I cannot find these files. Maybe someone can tell me what they are... I may have some constants set to true that I do not have or need. Here is the shorter list!
[Missing]
Missing: C:\WINDOWS\Crystal\p3stkde.dll
Missing: C:\WINDOWS\Crystal\p3srpde.dll
Missing: C:\WINDOWS\Crystal\p3smpde.dll
Missing: C:\WINDOWS\Crystal\p3sacde.dll
Missing: C:\WINDOWS\Crystal\p3soude.dll

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Re: CR 8.5 Runtime Modules causing Build errors
What may help is taking another look at the notes document at: Setup Factory 6.0\Runtimes\cr85\Runtime Notes.htm
In that document there is a description of the constants that are used in the build-time conditions for those files. So if you take a look at each of those files, it may help you determine whether or not you need those components or not from the constants description.
Hope that helps.

Re: CR 8.5 Runtime Modules causing Build errors
OK These files are showing up missing in the runtime module that I got from indigo rose site. They are in red. But I have done a search for these files, and I do not have them on this system. I have 8.5 fully installed and I still do not have them anywhere. I did a system search as well as a directory search. Now if I do not have these files installed and Crystal does what I need, can I not just delete them from the Runtime module setup?
Edit:
I took out the missing files that are not on my system from the Setup Factory Runtime module, and it compiled fine. I can only imagine that since they do not reside on my system, and my Crystal Reports runs fine... that they will not be needed. I know that sounds a little weird... but if anyone else has used this module and it worked, please let me know, because if I am missing dll's, something is wrong because I did a full install. I am going to test it tomorrow on a system without Crystal to see if it worked. I will let you guys know what I find out! And please do look at the 7 dll file names I could not locate, as I would really like to know what they are for! LOL!

Re: CR 8.5 Runtime Modules causing Build errors
I think you will find there "may" be a bug in the CR8.5 runtime if you choose the install to %AppDir% version. The one called CR85sys seems to work fine as I have used many times. I may be wrong but the latter does not expect P2BBDE.DLL to be available (or I may have removed) but I have no problems. Unless you are reporting off a Borland Database then you should be OK.
