When I install my program and copy any dll in the System32 folder (in Win2k/XP), the "Windows File Protection" (WFP) restore the original file.

Example: I copy scrrun.dll 5.6.0.6626 version and the WFP retore with 5.1.XXXX version.....

How I can make to copy MY file???

Help! I'm getting the same problem (sort of). The Windows File Protection dialog pops up during install. And then it keeps on popping up every time I go to run my installed app -- even after rebooting. Anyone??

Hi,

I'm not sure how to get around the WFP, and I believe that you probably shouldn't in general. What file are you trying to replace?

Hi astudios,

What does the dialog say when it pops up? Does it's message change or is it pretty much constant?

Hi,

Try copy any file of the System32 folder (Ex: Scrrun.dll) with the option "Always Overwrite existing File". Then, view the Success Viewer....

I donīt see any pop-up messenges.

Thanks!

it's pretty much consistent. it seems to be the "standard" windows file protection dialog window. i'm pretty much at a loss here so if you have ANY ideas, i'm all ears. i don't get this problem when doing the exact same kind of install (same app) with the wise installer. but i love the setup factory installer and would love to use it over wise any day.. except for this small annoyance.

I found this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q222473

To disable:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
set SFCDisable to 0ffffff9d, using the Hex Radix.

Can SF6 copy a file in 2 folders at the same time?
To copy the file first in the "C:\WINNT\system32\dllcache" folder and next in the "C:\WINNT\system32".

well, i don't think it would be a good idea to turn off this feature of windows (windows file protection).. i simply don't want to see this "error" popup. i mentioned in my first post that this doesn't happen at all when i try installing using the WISE installer (installing with the exact same set of files, etc). very confusing. i'd hate to resort to use the wise installer just because of this since i truly think the setup factory installer is so much easier to use!
