Is there a way to do a multiple CD-ROM install that will install disc one, then prompt user to insert disc 2?

Hi,

Yes there is a way to create a multiple CD-ROM installation:

On the Output Screen you have three "Media Target" options:
1) CD-ROM/Internet
2) 1.44 MB Disks
3) Custom

Simply select 'Custom' and tell Setup Factory at which size you want your installation to be 'split apart'. Basically you will set your 'Custom' size to be the size you want on each CD-ROM, or the size of your CD-ROMs.

Mark, isn't the spanning installation you refer to for times when the SETUP.EXE (archive) file is too large to fit on a single disk? I admit I'm new to this so I'm not sure of the answer.

If you're accessing non-archived files from multiple CDROMs, couldn't you also set up the installation project so that one setup.exe calls another on a separate CD? That is, chain installation projects together?

Hi,

Yes this is for spanning the Setup.exe over two (or more) separate discs.

As far as I know there really is no automated way to get Setup Factory to look onto separate discs for none archived files.

hi mark -

I thought it might be possible to nest 2 cdrom type installs within an archive index, but the main need then would be to be able to control when disc 2 is prompted (and when the 2nd cdrom install runs).

Is there no way to place a prompt? Does this sound at all feasible?

thx
