BDE Aliases

Does anyone have the correct syntax for adding a BDE Alias?
And the routine for doing it?

I need to add an Alias to an existing install, rather than install the BDE. I've looked at .ini file, but it still shows hardcoded path for idapi as off root. That's from LONG ago. And the path is fixed; shouldn't it be adjustable as a variable?

Maybe I'm just not getting it.

Any help appreciated.

Don't worry about the path, SF replaces it with the correct one. Although I'm not sure what happens if you aren't installing the BDE.

Anyway, the alias line at the end:

Alias1=PVMapping,DBASE,PATH:%AppDir%\database
