Dear all, does anyone know when AMS8 will be launched?
If I don't have unicode (or at least UTF-8) support quickly, I have to look for another RAD tool. Does anyone have a tip for an alternative? Does anyone know if there are any other user friendly tools like AMS based on lua, python or perl?
thanks

Yes, AMS 8 will be out on or before July 14th, 3024.
Here is a unicode (http://www.mindquake.com.br/ams.php#unicode) plugin by Ulrich.

I've been using Urlich's plugin with pleasure, but I now need to support Japanese, Chinese, Korean & Russian, and read UTF-8 txt files and put them in an SQLite db and pull XML out of this. Even with his plugin I cannot do this. I need some more native unicode support.
I don't think I can wait till July...

i would not expect unicode support in AMS 8,9,10, or 11, lua is built to read ANSCI text
maybe in 3024 lua will support unicode, i'll just jump in my time machine, i'll be back 5 minutes ago!
EDIT
We Dont Have A Public Release Date
HaHAHA, IR never give public release dates, when they give the date they release the update, there's never been any forewarning (only the 7.5 blog but that seemed to dry up after release)
maybe there's someone in the IR offices somewhere typing out a roadmap for AMS, or maybe not!

I hope you are wrong, but I fear you are right.
When I asked IR staff months ago, they told me that there would be UTF-8 support... So, I still have hope.
do you know another RAD that is as easy to use as AMS that has UTF-8 and SQLite support?
thanks

I've found AMS to be the easiest but there's always Visual Basic.

well then i could be wrong, but my understanding UTF-8 and how it works compared to ANSCI is very limited so i go on what iv read on the internet, and as far as i am aware lua does not support unicode ......
AMS has a habit of doing things that are *not possible* to do in AMS, lets see what the future holds
