Calendar referencing

I'm planning ahead here and just throwing this out for suggestions ..

I have a 'Bookings' page. The User fills in a date manually (input box) or clicks a calendar icon to bring up a calendar object, which then fills in the chosen date.
Ideally i would like the User to be able to refence a calendar (showing all previous bookings) to see which dates are available. Any suggestions on how best to achieve this?

not sure I understand, but if I do -- I'd just start with a dialogex that is a form with a 5x7 grid of boxes -- those boxes are dynamically filled in with previous dates for whatever month is chosen.
The boxes could just be an edit region that is RO of text/past/future appointments.
