    SUMMARY

This article explains how to launch Internet Explorer in kiosk mode.

    DISCUSSION

Kiosk mode is when Internet Explorer launches with no toolbars, menu bar, or address bar. In order to launch Internet Explorer in kiosk mode you have to launch Internet Explorer directly and pass it a command line argument that will force it into kiosk mode.

You can accomplish this by executing Internet Explorer in the following manner:

    File name: iexplore.exe
    Arguments: -k %SrcDrv%\MyHtmlDocs\mydoc.html

In the above example -k is the command line switch that starts Internet Explorer in kiosk mode, and "%SrcDrv%\MyHtmlDocs\mydoc.html" is the full path to the HTML document that will initially be loaded into Internet Explorer. We also specified "iexplore.exe" as that file name instead of the full path; this is all that is needed to launch Internet Explorer. If you would like to specify the full path to "iexplore.exe" use: "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

The example assumes that the user has Internet Explorer installed on their system. Although it is very likely that they will have it, there is a chance that they will not.
