    SUMMARY

This article provides information on recovering an AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 project file from a built application.

    DISCUSSION

There is no way to reverse engineer a built AutoPlay Media Studio application. There is no way to get back to the project file that created an AutoPlay application from a built executable.

When AutoPlay Media Studio builds your application it encrypts the important files so that they cannot be viewed by external viewers. This was done to protect your application. If this was not done users would be able to view your project file and it's contents, which means that users could view all of your serial numbers or any other private information. Due to the encryption it is not possible to reverse engineer a built AutoPlay application.

Since you cannot reverse engineer a built AutoPlay application it is a good idea to keep safe backups of your AutoPlay project files. The best way to backup your AutoPlay project file is to use the built-in Create Zip Archive tool, which can be found under Tools | Create Zip Archive....

The Create Zip Archive function is intended to provide a quick and reliable way to store your current project file along with its images, sounds, videos, and icons in a Zip archive. The Zip file can then be opened with any Zip compatible program such as "WinZip".

To make a backup of your project file, use the Create Zip Archive feature to create a zip file, then back this file up to a CD-ROM, Floppy disk, Backup Tape, or safe area on your network.

Tip: It is a good idea to make backups of your project files at least once a week.

Tip: Enable the Autosave feature in AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 by selecting Edit | Preferences in the menu. Then click on the Autosave link and select the Enable autosave checkbox.
