Document ID: IR04017The information in this article applies to:
- AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0
SUMMARY
This article explains what the minimum requirements for the Flash Object, Media Player Object, and Web Browser Object are.
DISCUSSION
The Flash, Media Player, and Web Browser Objects are the only objects in AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 that have any requirements. These requirements are only an issue if you choose to include one of these objects in your project; if you don't use any of these objects, the requirements don't apply. Also, note that most people should be able to meet these requirements easily.
Windows Media Player
The Windows Media Player ActiveX control (msdxm.ocx) is used by the Media Player Object. This ActiveX control must already be installed in order for the Media Player Object to work. It's installed with any of the following:
- Windows Media Player (any version)
- Windows 98 SE
- Windows NT4 SP5 (or newer)
- Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 (or newer)
- DirectX 6.0 (or newer)
Note: Windows Media Player itself doesn't need to be installed; only the ActiveX control (msdxm.ocx) is required.
Internet Explorer
The Internet Explorer ActiveX control is used by the Web Browser Object. This ActiveX control must already be installed in order for the Web Browser Object to work. It's installed with any of the following:
- Internet Explorer 4 (or newer)
- Windows 98 (or newer)
Macromedia Flash
The Macromedia Flash Player ActiveX control (either Flash.ocx or swflash.ocx, depending on which version of the player is installed) is used by the Flash Object. This ActiveX control must already be installed in order for the Flash Object to work. The ActiveX control is installed with any of the following:
- Macromedia Flash Player
- Windows 95 OEM upgrade CD
- Windows 98
- Windows ME
- Windows XP
- Internet Explorer 4.01 (or newer)
- Navigator 4.0.6
- Netscape Communicator 6 (or newer)
- America Online (AOL) 7.0
- RealPlayer
Note: The required version of the ActiveX control depends on the version of the flash file that you are distributing.
