Hello,

yesterday i made a project, an a build to the hard-drive , everything was fine, but i found i needed to change something in it, i went to save it , i deleted the old build, saved the new build. after saving the new build the new one did not have a .exe, tried it again a couple times, it finally made a .exe along with the autoplay folder an the .inf... but there are 2 extra "files" does not say what kind of file just a file.

as well, in the autoplay fold there are 2 ZIP folders and about 5 other folders that were not on the original build. i saved it as a hard-drive build not a web build,,,

also there are pictuers in the folder that i put in the background but later removed from the background nowhere to be found in the project?

Please advise ASAP, Since we have a huge project with a deadline tomrrow (friday)

im running vista

as far as i know, if you build your project as hard-drive folder, the Audio folder, the Images folder and they contents moved (changed) in to new folder called "dat01" folder. And AMS renamed your image files and your audio files with new extension, like "ap1.dat", "ap2.dat", and so on.

There is an option called Rename Resource Files that you can check when building your project. Did you change it in the meantime?

HI jongewehr,

Remember saving your project and building your project are two separate steps. Select: Publish | Build from the menu to build your project.

1) What version of AutoPlay are you using? Please make sure you are using the latest: 7.1.1007.0

2) How are you building your application? Please outline the steps, what build options you are selecting, and the locations you are building to.

3) Does the build succeed or fail?

4) What does the folder look like after you build to it?

5) Does the preview option work?

When you build to an empty Folder it should have:
autorun.exe and autorun.inf in the root folder
a folder called AutoPlay
sub folders under AutoPlay, Audio, Docs, Images, and Plugins and also an autorun.cdd file

executing the autorun.exe will start your project

thanks , its only missing the autorun.exe , instead it just puts a "file" there inplace of the .exe ... if you try to open it, it does not know how to, and askes you to choose a program to open it with .

the 1st couple project worked , but now the new ones are not, i have cleared my temp files , an used cleaning software an restarted an still have the issue

Hi jongewehr,

If you are having problems opening programs on your computer it sounds as though there may be a problem with your computer.

1) What settings are you selecting on the first page of the Build Wizard?

2) Please outline all of the settings that you are setting on the second page of the build wizard. (Executable filename, etc.)

3) Please outline all of the resulting files in your destination folder after you build. Please include full paths, filenames, and extensions.

4) Please paste the contents of your autorun.inf file if you are creating one.

1) im selecting a hard drive build

2) i select the output folder to my sever, or local drive (depends), i delete everything in the Executable filename field. an then call it SoftwareOverview... i Enable AutoPlay features an Timestamp files

3) the build creates : Autoplay folder, autorun.inf , SoftwareOverview File.
in the autoplay folder contains: audio, buttons, docs, images folders.
and a softwareovervcdd.zip....
the audio folder contains two .ogg files..
the buttons folder contains a red_pill.btn
the Docs folder contains video Resources (web link)
the Images contains 2 images

4) heres the contents of the autorun.inf when i click on it an it opens a notepad

"[AutoRun]
OPEN=softwareoverview"

thanks again

also when im making a build i get a window pop up that says "Publish Warning (vista).....

Your project's "Requested User Privilege Lever (vista)" setting is configured as "as invoker"

if your application will be run on windows vista and accesses protected areas of the registy or file system, this setting should be changed to "require administrator".

You can find this setting by choosing Project . Settings from the menu and selecting the "advanced" tab

for more information on running applications on Windows Vista, click the "more Info" button below..

there is a more info button , a continue button an a cancel button

an a box that says dont show this message again

.... i dont have any files connecting to the registy so i think im fine with this , thought i would post it though

Looks like you are leaving off the .exe extension when renaiming it.

Please specify exactly what you are specifying in for all of the settings. I need to know exactly what you are using for all of the available build settings.

"[AutoRun]
OPEN=softwareoverview"

It looks as though you are not specifying the .exe file extension in the Executable filename field.

Make sure that you are setting the Executable filename to be:

SoftwareOverview.exe

Try add an extension (.exe) to "file" that you cannot open

When you build your project, dont forget to add an extension (.exe) after your project name e.g: My Project.exe, if AMS didnt add it automatically :)
