Hi,
Just started using AutoPlay today and I have built a project using the Basic Blue Video Trainer template. No matter what I do, I can't get my video to display in the Video Box when I preview. All I get is the Sample Video. I have changed the video in the requester to one of my own .mpegs and even tried .wmv and when I preview it shows me the "Sample Video" screen! Help!
Thanks
Corey

OK:
1. Start a new project using the basic blue video trainer template.
2. Navigate to your project's "Distribution" folder.
3. Drag your replacement video clip into the distribution folder to add it to your project files.
4. Back in your project double click on the "Sample Video" to bring up the properties dialog.
5. Next to the Filename/URL field click the little magnifying glass/page icon and then select your replacement video's name from the list. (This replaces the sample vid with your new vid)
6. Press OK then OK again to close all the dialogs.
7. Optionally you can now delete "sample.avi" if you like, but it's not necessary.
That's all you have to do, if you follow these instructions 100% you will be successful, I guarantee it. If it isn't working just try again, being sure to follow all directions very carefully.
Good Luck. /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

I followed the short steprs exactly. The Sample Video text goes away after I select my .wmv file that is in the Distribution Folder but when I click the Preview tv screen icon and the preview appears, I see "Sample Video". My .wmv is in the distribution folder along with the sample.mpg. HELP!?

Okay...I have deleted the sample.mpg from the Distribution folder to see what would happen and selected my .wmv file. Now the Windows Media logo appears when I preview but my video does not play automatically. Under advanced options, "automatically start playing video" and "rewind" are both checked. The media file URL entry is "%SrcDir%\sample.wmv" with "external reference" selected. Is there a way to just put an image there and have the media play when selected from the left buttons instead of having a sample video play? Thanks....

Like I say if you are following those directions carefully it will work. /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

I follow the instructions you gave and the sample video is still playing too.

OK guys:
If you have no link to the sample video it cannot appear in your project. That is physically impossible. It appears you have failed to remove/replace this link since the video is still appearing in your projects. The above steps work just fine, if you are not getting the results you need it is because you are not following directions... Wish I could offer more but I re-iterate, follow the directions exactly as they are written and it will work, I guarantee it 100%. Don't add anything or omit anything. I have tested it 3 times here over the course of this thread and it works every time perfectly.

When I follow your directions precisely, the only way I can get the Sample video to not appear is to physically delete it from the distribution folder and from the project folder. But when I do that, the project will not play my actual .mpg file and will simply show the windows media player without playing a file...or, conversely, I will get a "media player object not found" error. That happens even when I follow your directions precisely.
I am running trial version on XP with much ram and other necessaries.

I performed an experiment: I can delete the media player object, save the project, then add a new media player object that has an external reference to the proper .mpg file and when I preview it, I get an error message that says "Could not load the document into the Media Player Object.
The object was not found on this page. 'Video Player'
All this happens as I am sitting there viewing the .mpg file underneath the error message.
When I burn all this to a cd rom and auto play it, the .mpg does not show, all I get is the winmedia icon with no functionality on the buttons.

You're not following the directions then. If you had actually replaced the link to the sample video then there is no physically possible way it could appear in your project, after all there would be no link if that were the case. No link = no video. It's not like your project has psychic powers... /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif
So all I can do is re-iterate that you are misperforming the above instructions and wish you the best of luck... I encourage you to re-read the instructions and perform them verbatim. Worked perfectly over here 3 out of 3 times.

In the Medio Object Properties: Media Player1 dialogue, the Media File, Filename/URL reads: "BuffaloWorkMater.mpg" (without the quotes). If I do not delete the physical "Sample.mpg" file, I get the Sample when I run the Preview. If I delete the two instances of the Sample.mpg, then I get the error I defined above. That is a fact. There is no other instructions that you defined above that are being ignored or performed incorrectly.

It seems to me that you are working in two different action groups. Check ALL action groups for the page and the mediaplayer object. You are bound to find where you still have the "wrong" action active.
Good luck

2 instances? Not sure what you mean but I had 3 other people test this and they have all reported to me by email that the above instructions worked 100% perfectly for them too so I am at a loss to offer you anything further. Best of luck.

The sample video has been deleted and no longer shows up. NOw the problem is the error about the video player. Why is that error occurring?

I reloaded the demo version on another computer running win 2000 and followed your instructions in a pristine environment. This time the project previews properly but when it's burned to a cd and autostarts, the mpg file won't run and all you see is the winplayer icon.

What version of AutoPlay Media Studio are you using?
There was a bug in an earlier version of the template that loaded the video into the Web Browser Object on Page Load or Project Initialize or some other sneaky place.
I can't remember if this was fixed before the final release (i.e. during beta) or after version 4.0.0.0, but it's worth checking anyway.

I am using 4.0 I figured out the 'work around'. I created my video loop as an MPEG instead of a .wmv and it works! Possibly ASM doesn't like .wmv's for that? Dunno...but it's working now.

Why not upgrade to 4.0.0.3 videoman? It's free...

.wmv should work fine. Check the Project and Page events for Web Browser Object - Load actions. If you find any, remove them.
And upgrade to the latest version!
