i use 1024 × 768 on every system i have, LCD monitors seem to like this setting very well, i try to make sure my apps will run on 800x600 tho, but sometimes this is not possable, in which case i set the users screen with a dll and set back after the app exits
I have old eyes so I can't go higher than 1024X768 without getting serious headaches.
lol, well im not that old....34 years young, but i get a headache looking at a screen bigger than 1024 × 768
1280x1024 at work but I have a 1024x768 rectangle in my wallpaper for test purposes.
I started a reply earlier on (but got interrupted) and was going to say the same as Holtgrewe about getting the users screen res. I don't need to do that nowadays because all our machines (except mine ) are 1024x768.
Funny you should ask as I just recently changed some multimedia presentations upped from 800 by 600 to 1024 by 768. I'm finding that 800 by 600 is pretty much low end these days. On the other hand alot of web designers still use 770 centred designed sites that still look good on larger monitors...like my new Acer 24 incher:yes
I have a Dual Display; first monitor uses 1680*1050 (a 22' widescreen) and second is at 1152*864 (19' standard). The other computers at home are at 1024*768 (17' standard) and 1280*800 (17' laptop widescreen).
Well that depends on what you are making, the budget and design of the project, who your target audience are, and probably most important the project details.
