I am trying out the autorun MAX 2.0 but can't find a way to add paragraph text only when the user rolls over a button (it was called mouseovertext object in autorun v4.0). Anyone know how?

That kind of interaction between objects cannot be done using Autorun MAX. For that level of functionality you need to use AutoPlay Media Studio.
