open pdf in Browser Object

This may be staring me in the face, but it's too early in the day [18:30 !!!] .... how does one get a pdf to open, using the CD-included version of Acrobat Reader, in a Browser Object?

I dont want the pdf to open in an external session of Reader, so I'd like to use the Reader/plugin included on the CD and have it open in a Browser Object.

Any ideas, please?

Thanx Bruce

I need it to use Acrobat Reader that is included on the CD, tho. If the end-user doesnt have it installed, they cant view it!
[I want to stay away from the end-user having to install it]

To do that, you have to run the AcroRD32.exe file from the webbrowser.
As far as I know, it is not possible to run a program from a webbrowser.

So start it as a program from CD without webbrowser.

Yes you can easily activate an application > execute action from a link in your web browser using AMS. Let me know if you'd like an example of that ovm...

OK I got your private message asking for an example. No problem, please post your email so I can send it (1 MB). Anyone else who wants the sample just post your email address, make sure you can accept .zip file attachments.

In the sample folder simply open weblaunch.am4 and then preview it, it's all self explanatory once you check out the project file.

Re: open pdf from CD

I was interested to hear if you received more specific instructions on how to have a pdf file viewed using the cd-included version of AcrobatReader? I too don't want the end-user to have to install the program or to rely on them already having it. Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,
-Stephanie

Here is a Duel purpose PDF. Duel meaning a way to both embed and/or have a free floating PDF file both run from the CD.

Danke Schön, Bruce ... but we're still not telling AMS4 to use the included CD version of acrobat. It's merely pointing to the pdf file and using the installed version to open it.

No that one should have the acrobat.exe in the download! It was like 7MB wasn't it? Should all be there and working! Does for me...Hummmmm

Sure, it was there, but the embedded pdf Action isnt telling AMS to use it. Simply pointing to the pdf, windows will use the installed version to open the embedded pdf, and if Acrobat Reader isnt installed, it doesnt open the pdf.
