We're getting a brilliant view of the eclipse of the moon here in the UK - not quite complete yet but there'll be plenty of good photo's around tomorrow - not by me unfortunately. My old Fuji doesn't like to come out after dark :)

Anybody else see it?
The gif is six frames out of 45 minutes of video that I took with my home video, a £120 Canon re-furb using both optical and digital zoom.
I've always kept digital zoom switched off but I have to say that I was surprised how well it worked until just before the complete eclipse. It couldn't handle the extreme contrast between lit portion and shadowed and when light level dropped it started hunting around for focus too much but anyway I got a 5 minute flv out of it that'll be useful sometime - possibly :) .

That's pretty awesome, a rare event indeed.
Hey longedge, you can post/upload the flv at a new site I built. Concentrates mainly on digital video. The registration at the forum/gallery is free.

I'm still wondering if I can use it for anything Ron, so I'm not uploading it anywhere in the public domain but I have posted you a temporary link to the rough .flv if you're interested - or anyone else for that matter if they want to p.m. me for the url. I don't want to post it because it won't be up for long.

I misinterpreted your post, sorry.

The eclipse was in its final 1/3 when the moon rose here in Saint Paul. I had a perfect view of it out of the office/loft/glass studio window. Beautiful!

:D Not sure I do myself really - sort of feeling that once released it's lost for use in any value added stuff that any of my colleagues might want it for.
.... the second reason is that it's poor quality :lol
You got there p.d.q. Ron - before I'd added the comparative still taken by someone else actually during the full eclipse :)
Beautiful!

I wasn't sure if it had been visible in N.America but obviously it was:yes
