Avi or Media Player?

I'm looking at using an avi clip in my project. Any advantages-disadvantages when choosing between Avi Player Object and Media Player Object besides appearance/controls?

The Media Player object is much more addressable, plus it plays back MPEG-1 and WMV files as well as AVI. I don't have much use for the AVI object anymore, and I would be surprised if it hangs on another version, to be honest.

change the extension of an MPEG1 to .avi and it will play it, and it seems to be media player 9.
