Guys, I'm working on an autorun CD for work that our customers can come in and get so they can take it home and install our apps on their home machines. Some of the programs are Lotus Notes, Symantec Antivirus, Zone Alarm.....

Anyway the layout of my autorun CD is I have an icon for each of the applications in 1 row and below the line of icons is a banner that when each icon is selected will change to the name of the application selected. Below the banner will be options for each of the selected icon. Like the Adobe Studio installer. The problem is that I have 8 applications(icons) and I can't fit them on 1 row. I could shrink the icons, but I love the way it looks now.

I thought of an idea that maybe would work, but I don't know if AMS can do this. Is there anyway I could have it so I could scroll the row kind of like a conveyor belt? See what I'm saying? I'm thinking the only way to pull that effect off is in Flash and I really don't have the time to learn Flash. Any suggestions on how to pull this off? Thanks.

Honestly, even though some scrolling thing might be cool, save yourself some time and either make those icons smaller (I know I know you like em) or increase the size of your AMS application window. That image looks to be just over 600px, so maybe increase it to 800px? If it were me, I would just make the icons smaller. My two cents.

Thanks for the reply. I think what I'm going to do is duplicate the opening screen(where the home icon goes to in top right corner) and than have the 4 other icons on the second page. I'll have another icon down in the bottom right for them to click on the go to page 2 and than on page 2 and link to page 1. I'm fooling with it now and it's not as ideal as having it all on one page, but it might not turn out too bad. Watch my boss tell me he'd rather them not have to navigate 2 pages :(

I tried shrinking them down after I posted, but you can't see the icons as well and to be honest I busted my ass on those icons :) The Aventail one took me 5 hours alone to create :) I know that's long, but I'm anal.

Another thing you could do is to make the area that shows the icons a web object that links to either a LAN web server or an Internet connected server, based on whether or not the computer running it is online. The web object would automatically add a horizantal scroll as you wanted if you code your web page accordingly, and you can dynamically add new content if you wanted without updating the client. :yes

If you want a scroller for the icons, just use the Thumblist plugin. You can have it scroll horizontally so you can keep your existing layout as is. That way you can add as many programs as you want.:yes
