Media Player works on build computer but not on others

This is a newbe question.

My project plays a mpg video on start. It works fine on my xp home laptop (where I created the project), but on two other computers with Win98, iexplorer 6 and latest media player (not 9) I get "The Media Players state was incompatable with the action "Media Player."

Has anyone run into this before? and how did you solve it?

Regarding the Windows Player 9 issue, I have Player 9 on a Windows 2000 server service pack 3, and as soon as I try to play my video the program ends abrubtly. Everything works fine on my xp home laptop.

I tried reinstalling Autoplay (latest version), the problem still exists. I'll keep working on this one, my real problem is the 1st one I mentioned.

There have been other reports of Media player malfunction with WMP9 and AMS but there's no fix yet nor have I heard of a target time when one wil lbe available... Try emailing support@indigorose.com if you get stuck.

Your dedication to monitoring this site is much appreciated. I don't know of any other forums where I get such prompt response.

By way of follow-up on the Windows Player 9 issue. I should point out that I was forced to do some house cleaning on my 2000 server and as a result had to reinstall Player 9. Prior to the reinstall everything worked fine.

It was after I reinstalled player 9 that the problem occured. As I mentioned I reinstalled AutoPlay, but that did not solve the problem. What I have not done is uninstall AutoPlay and reinstall. That is what I'm going to try next, when I get time.

I seem to remember someone else suggested that the order of installation may be part of the problem.

Apparently, if the mpg record level is higher than the default player can handle, mpg1, the above error message occurs on win98.

On a win95 machine and a win 2000pro machine, media player tried to download the correct codex.

Just in case anyone ever runs into this same problem.
