Why Doesn't My CD Autorun/Autoplay?
Assuming that you have correctly burned your CD, and there is an autorun.inf file found in the root of the CD, the likely cause is that the Autorun / Autoplay feature has been disabled for that CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive.
It's easy to enable or disable Autorun / Autoplay for a CD/DVD drive, but the instructions are different depending on the operating system.
How to Enable/Disable Autorun on Windows 95/98/Me
Go to the Control Panel. Choose My Computer > Properties.
Click on the Device Manager tab.
Click on the CD-ROM folder.
Find your CD-ROM drive.
Click Properties, then click on the Settings tab.
Turn the auto insert notification option on or off.
Click OK.
How to Enable/Disable Autorun on Windows NT/2000
Click Start > Run. Type regedt32.exe and click OK.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom.
Change the Autorun value to '1' to enable, and '0' to disable.
How to Enable/Disable Autorun on Windows XP
Double Click "My Computer" or press Windows Key + "e" at the same time.
Right-click on your CD-ROM drive and choose Properties.
Click on the AutoPlay tab.
You'll see a drop-down list with various file types, media and actions. Select each item in the list and set the action to "Take no action" to disable autorun, or select the desired action to enable autorun.
Click OK.
