startupv.exe icon

In version 3 you could set the icon for the startupv.exe program.... I don't see how to do that anymore with version 4 ??? Is there a trick I am missing ?

Project settings -> Build -> Autorun.inf

section needed "use external icon file"

Nope tried that already it has no effect on what ICON the startupv.exe shows/has internally.

Try a program called Microangelo. It will let you change the internal icons of an .exe.

I've noticed this too.

I can change the icon so it shows in the "My Computer" section using the external icon method described by other posts here. This is what the autorun "icon=" sets, but it doesn't effect the image of the .exe itself.

Moreso than what program was used to build the application, I'm interested in keeping the images within theme of the project. The AMS icon is, indeed very cool as far as icons go, but the ones I've created for the project are more appropriate.

Today I ran a client-suppplied disc and it turns out they used AMS 3.0. The .exe image was their own, not just in the "My Computer" section, but in the CD-ROM folder as well. Is it because they used the older version of AMS?

I noticed that when I run my most recent application, the AMS icon shows up in the traymenu despite setting it up to be my icon. Again, my icon shows up in some places, but it doesn't seem to be allowed to be shown other places.

Is there something I need to set to associate the .exe icon with the one I've created for the project like this developer did using the older version of AMS (version 3.0).

On a side note,

It wouldn't do much good to alter the .exe beyond the licence since it couldn't then be distributed. I like freeware programs, especially ones that allow you to alter files that should be accessible, but not at the cost of rendering a commercial product unusable.

Is there a setting in AMS 4.0 that we are not getting right, or did Brett for some reason disable that coding in version 4.0?

If so Brett, could that be reinserted in the next upgrade?

I don't think anything changed between 3 and 4 as far as the icon-setting ability goes.

That person probably used Microangelo or ResHacker to edit the .exe's resources.
