smth like catalog

Hi, i can't solve one problem...
example: there are 3 input fields
-number
-path to file
-short description
I need to to samething like catalog of links
if you choose description program must show U number of file & path to it.
Number should not repeat, so i think that programm should check for preveous numbers & print n+1.
