I am having troubles with autoplay playing embedded WMV files in powerpoint. I understand that windows service pack 2 causes these problems. Is there any way around this??

Hi. How are you integrating your powerpoint?

Hello, thanks for responding,
I am integrating the powerpoint as a .pps (show). There is a link that users click on which takes them to the show. The link and the .pps show are both on the CD. It is the embedded .wmv files in the pps show that will not play. I have double checked the root folders to make sure the file directory is correct. The wmv files will play when the disk is used on the computer in which the disk was put together (using autoplay 6). However, when the disk is taken to a different computer the wmv files will not play in the .pps show. I have even shortened the names of the wmv files (which I saw in a different forum posting) and that still did not work. Any ideas?? Help would be MUCH appreciated!!

Hi. OK that's not an AMS problem, it's related to your .pps. My guess is that your .wmv is attempting to follow an absolute path rather than a relative path. Wish I could offer more but I'm no powerpoint expert. :yes

That sounds like an issue with how the powerpoint file points to the location of the video. There is an option in powerpoint that prepares the presentation for CD. Below is a link to a site that discusses how to do this.

When I do this on mine, the resulting file is a .ppz which can be opened with Winzip and the absolute links in the ppt are now relative links. I am sure there are other ways but this seems to work.
