Hi folks,

I'm developing a web setup using HTTP.Download to get the selected packages from the web. I test the setup in a LAN with apache web server and it works fine on WinXP, Win2000 and Win NT. But on ME and 98 the transfer rate is about 0.8 kb/s (on WinXP about 3000.0 kb/s).
Anyone an idea why this happens?

I found it!!

The Setup is extremly slow on WinMe and Win98 if you turn on the extended error log.

Thanks for the heads up. Is this a setting in Setup Factory that you say is slowing the download down?

Yes, it's the setting "Log Files" -> "Include action details" -> "Extended Errors"

Hi Ineb,

I was looking into this one today, and tried to replicate the problem by testing on a Windows ME system and comparing to an XP system with and without the extended errors as you suggested, but did not receive any different results.

Has anyone else experienced any problems with the current build, 7.0.4.0?

Thanks

Darryl

On a side note Microsoft is officially cutting support for Windows 98, 98SE, ME this June. To tell you the truth I won't shed a tear for Windows ME... not a single tear

I'm with you AJK, no offence to ME users, I call it by another name
'windows milemon edition' ..some have not had issues, more clients
I deal with HAVE, rollon Vista :)

ps. I encourage them to 'install XP' or hang on 'til Vista rolls out.
