The Dot and I will be spending a few days in Paris in April. Any suggestions for "different" things to see? Obscure & odd museums? We're already thinking about The Sewers.

I'd definitely hit the Eiffel Tower. Definitely! I know most people dont' think of that when they go to Paris. ;)

As many times as The Dot has been to Paris, she's never been to The Top. Over lunch today we added that to the top of our list!

Don't hit it too hard. There's already one leaning tower over there, who needs two :D

I heard the Sewers tour(s) is something you should really see, kids with a nanny?
:D

As a for mer "Parisien", I would suggest the following:
Jardin des plantes. A beautiful garden with plants from all over the world. April is THE time of the year for that (plus museums inside the grounds).
Monmartre and the Sacre-Coeur. Artist quarter with beautiful white church.
Notre-Dame. THE cathedral of Paris.
La Vilette. The high-tech center. (Check out the STRAIGHT viewing line from the Arch there, through the Arc e Triumph, all the way via the Champs Elysees, the Concorde, and the Arch of the Tuileries gardens.)
The Louvre Museum...of course...
A nice journey by boat (called Bateaux-Mouche) on the Seine.
Garden of Luxembourg and the Quartier Latin (Students quarter).
Don't forget the Chateau de Versaille. It is outside of Paris, but a wonder ( Louis the 14th built it).
That's it for now. If you have specific questions, I"ll be happy to answer them.
Enjoy!!!

If I were going to Paris I'd make sure to check out a Mickey D's and see if that guy from pulp fiction was full of it. :yes

... kids with a nanny?
:D
Let's see... Dorothy's oldest (22) is teaching English in Poitier (we'll visit her after Paris). My oldest (20) is taking a semeset in Montpelier ... 30 minutes from the Riviera (I'll visit him at the end of the trip). Dorothy's middle child is on a work-study in the Canary Islands. My youngest and The Dot's youngest (15 and 16) will be at The Other House (Ummm... long story....tell ya sometime :D ).
Nanny? Hmmm... my oldest might LIKE to be with a Nanny!

So long as she isn't Fran Drescher!

Fran Drescher was actually a sort of hip person once upon a time. She was in Spinal Tap and ran in some fairly artsy circles. She used to hang out with top rock bands, etc. But she sure morphed into something weird over the years though. I saw an interview with her recently, her plastic surgery gave her a Picasso-esque quality. It's a real shame, I'm not sure why some folks would rather look unnatural and surreal like that... :wow
